Product Adjustment

Brackenwood have, over time, fitted a number of different types of hinges, locks and keeps. Please identify from the diagrams which type you have and follow the instructions relevant to that type.

Window Hinges

Windows are fitted with adjustable friction hinges. The hinge will loosen with time and can be tightened by adjusting the small screw on the base of the hinge.

Window Handles

Window handles are secured by two screws. One of the screws will be visible when the handle is in the open position. The other screw is concealed under a small cover which can easily be removed with a knife blade (see Fig. 1). Periodically check the screws for tightness, taking care not to over-tighten.

Door Hinges

Door hinges are fully adjustable in all directions by turning the hinge bolt screw adjuster to move the body of the hinge to the desired position. (see Figs. 2 and 3)

Door Handles

There are two types of door handle, Lever and Pad. Lever handles can be opened without a key. You can have a combination of the two, i.e. Lever on inside/Pad on outside or Lever on inside and outside.

Door Adjustments

Modern door locks are extremely secure due to the number of locking contacts. If you have a problem operating your door lock, there are a number of adjustments that you can make yourself:

Turn the adjusting screws on the top hinge to suit. If further adjustment is required, turn the adjusting screws on the bottom hinge to suit. (see Fig. 2)

To adjust up or down, use 6mm Allen Key (adjust all three hinges equally) (see Fig 3 (a)). To adjust closer/further away from frame, use 5mm Allen Key (see Fig 3 (b)).
